Rael Isacowitz

Rael founded the Body Arts and Science Institute.  Celebrating 25 years of BASI Pilates earlier this year.  He loves the community of open minded and creative teachers over 30 different countries.  Rael’s son and his wife are a great support to him and he also credits Kathy Stanford Grant.  She gave Rael pivotal advice which changed his perspective of Pilates.  One of Rael’s favourite quote is from Helen Keller,  “The only thing worse than being blind is having sight with no vision.”

Rael believes humility is the most important quality a person can have.  In Pilates he believes it’s good for people to recognise their system is only one path, and that other techniques are also good.  “There are many paths…to see ourselves as humble teachers, and first of all humble students.”  Rael has collaborated with Polestar Pilates to create Pilates Interactive, and hopes more will join.  He is currently writing a second edition of his book Pilates

“Great spending time together as a family make sure you spend individual time with your children.”
